Wednesday Trivia Question

Who voiced Ms. Frizzle on THE MAGIC SCHOOL BUS?

Based on the book series by Joanna Cole and Bruce Degen, THE MAGIC SCHOOL BUS was an animated PBS Kids series that originally ran from 1994 to 1997. It was creative, educational with fun stories and characters and I’m sure a lot of Millennials grew up watching it.

In each episode, Ms. Frizzle and her class would embark on adventures to diverse locations such as the ocean, space, the desert and even inside the human body. The school bus was indeed magic as it could fly, shrink and do an incredible array of amazing things.

Aside from the person who provided Ms. Frizzle’s voice, the show boasted guest voice actors like Rita Moreno, Wynonna Judd, Malcom McDowell, Tom Cruise, Michael York, Ed Asner and Dolly Parton. It also had an awesome theme song by Little Richard!

But as to who voiced Ms. Frizzle, I’ll say it’s a well known multi-hyphenate who has been nominated for an Academy Award, BAFTA Awards, EMMY Awards, Golden Globes, Grammy Awards, Tony Awards and more (in fact, she is one away from an EGOT). Her career has spanned decades and where you best know her depends, most likely, on what generation you are. She’s still alive and working and even had a starring role in a feature film released earlier this year.

A lot of clues there. And if you were a fan of the series you may know the answer instantly without prompting. So who was it? Who voiced Ms. Frizzle on PBS Kids THE MAGIC SCHOOL BUS?
