Where Do I Know That Actor?

The second series of PROFESSOR T premiered last night. Based on the Belgian program of the same name, the UK series is a fan favorite. Let’s revisit who’s who on this crime drama…

Ben Miller plays the title character, Professor Jasper Tempest. He should be immediately recognizable as DI Richard Poole in Death In Paradise. Aside from a few guest appearances (Marple, Murder Most Horrid), he was Dr. Edmund Bickleigh in the Mystery presentation Malice Aforethought and had a memorable turn in Doc Martin as Stewart James.

Frances de la Tour portrays Jasper’s scene-stealing, overbearing mother Adelaide Tempest. She’s been seen as Yvette Sabine in The Collection and Violet Crosby in Vicious. Of course, you may have a long memory and know her best as Maud in the film farce Flickers, an early 1980s Masterpiece Theatre series starring Bob Hoskins.

Douglas Reith is Tempest’s boss, The Dean. He also played Lord Merton in Downton Abbey.

Lastly, Juliet Aubrey plays Chief Inspector Christina Brand. She was Dorothea in a Middlemarch and Elizabeth in Bertie & Elizabeth.
