Chef Ricky Moore is the proprietor of Saltbox Seafood Joint in Durham, North Carolina. We profiled Moore and his restaurant in the 2019 half hour program THE HOOK. I spied this little item the other day in a walkabout around the building. It is obviously tied to the Chef Ricky special. At first I thought it was a mouse pad but it’s much thinner so I’m assuming it’s a jar opener. Makes sense that a restaurateur might need something to get those tight lids off, eh?

Continue readingIn 2019, UNC-TV premiered THE HOOK, a locally produced special about Durham chef Ricky Moore. In this half-hour program, Ricky highlighted the seafood traditions of North Carolina’s coastline and celebrated the contributions of black chefs and fishermen to coastal food culture. You may have seen it. We’ve aired it many times since its debut (as recently as September on PBS NC). What you see below is a small card used to promote the series. I found a bunch in our Marketing and Communications department. Since it pushes a a broadcast date that is two years in the past, they only make decent mementos at this time.
