Wednesday Trivia Question

What was served for Thanksgiving dinner in A CHARLIE BROWN THANKSGIVING?

Now that PBS has the Peanuts specials, Charlie Brown and the gang are fair game when it comes to trivia. Hope you got a chance to catch this one on Sunday.

If you haven’t seen it for a while, the premise is that Peppermint Patty invites herself along with Marcie and Franklin over to Charlie Brown’s for Thanksgiving. Of course, “Chuck” is too polite (or wishy washy) to say no, but the Brown family plans are to head over to Grandma’s house for Thanksgiving dinner and now he has to deal with some uninvited (technically, self-invited) guests. Linus comes up with the plan to make a meal for the pals before the fam heads off to Nana’s. So, Linus, Charlie Brown and Snoopy (with a wee bit of help from Woodstock) cook up a non-traditional meal. A VERY non-traditional meal, as it happens.

So what was it? What did Charlie Brown serve to Peppermint Patty, Marcie and Franklin for their impromptu Thanksgiving meal in A CHARLIE BROWN THANKSGIVING?

The meal consisted primarily of toast (with butter) and popcorn. There were also jelly beans and pretzel sticks available. Also, even though it wasn’t mentioned in dialogue, there were at times something on the table that looked like some sort of parfait or ice cream sundae. (The animation being what it was, these concoctions were visble in some scenes but completely missing in others).

Of course, once all the kids leave for grandma’s house, Snoopy and Woodstock head back to the TARDIS-like doghouse and cook up a traditional meal of turkey with all the trimmings. (The fact that Woodstock is eating bird may be the least shocking thing about this special.) The pair then gorge themselves on pumpkin pie in the closing credits.
