Where Do I Know That Actor?

THE TROUBLE WITH MAGGIE COLE ended a week back so I hope you had a chance to catch the series. Directed by Ben Gregor and written by Mark Brotherhood, TTWMC was an intriguing comedy drama, both light-hearted and intense. I would have thought a cast the size the program boasted would have more actors recognizable from other UNC-TV fare. As it is, I only found three. True, many others had a guest spot here or there but it’s not really worth mentioning one appearance on MIDSOMER MURDERS (I mean, who hasn’t done that, right?).

Here are the actors you should know from elsewhere…

Dawn French starred in the title role as a village gossip who finds the spotlight far too uncomfortable. She’ll best be known as Geraldine Granger, the titular clergy, from The Vicar Of Dibley. She was also Caroline Arless in Lark Rise To Candleford and starred in various roles on the anthology comedy Murder Most Horrid.

Mark Heap played Maggie’s husband Peter Cole who was headmaster of the local school. Heap has also appeared on Lark Rise To Candleford as Thomas Brown. And he played another headmaster – Philip in the Britcom Spy.

Lastly, Vicki Pepperdine was Peter’s receptionist. She played Mrs. Michelson in The Woman In White.

Got a face you can’t place from one of the plethora of programs UNC-TV airs from the UK? Email me at sparkymac@unctv.org and I’ll try to help out.
