Wednesday Trivia Question

Name the historian, author, curator and television presenter who has hosted such shows as TALES FROM THE ROYAL BEDCHAMBER, SECRETS OF THE SIX WIVES and VICTORIA AND ALBERT: THE WEDDING.

Public broadcasting is known for many things: Informative how-to and educational programs, beloved children’s series, insightful news and public affairs shows and so much more. One of the more popular niches is that of British imports – programs from across the pond that showcase some of the best drama and comedy on the small screen. Along with those fantastic series, programs that delve into the colorful pageantry of English history are a common sight on UNC-TV. I’d wager public broadcasting viewers, on average, have a better knowledge of English history than do other Americans and possibly even some UK citizens.

Over the years, we’ve come to know such presenters as Michael Wood, James Burke and Bettany Hughes as they’ve brought us fascinating fare that delves into English and world history. But one presenter of note has a special interest in the history of Britain as has presented the topic in entertaining series that have explored the lives of the monarchy in creative and immersive ways. The Berkshire-born historian graduated from Oxford with a first-class honours degree and even served as Chief Curator at Historic Royal Palaces, the independent charity responsible for maintaining the likes of Tower of London, Hampton Court and Kew Palace. A very impressive resume for a very impressive presenter, to be sure.

So who is it? Who is the presenter of historic fare like TALES FROM THE ROYAL BEDCHAMBER, SECRETS OF THE SIX WIVES and VICTORIA AND ALBERT: THE WEDDING?

The answer is the intriguingly erudite Lucy Worsley. She just always seems to bring the past alive with her passion and knowledge. As such, check out her all-new special, LUCY WORSLEY’S 12 DAYS OF TUDOR CHRISTMAS, premiering Christmas Day at 8pm.
