Where Do I Know That Actor?

MIDSOMER MURDERS continues to impress with a two-parter full of guest stars. “Wild Harvest” found Barnaby and company investigating the death of a farmer amidst the world of haute cuisine. But long before our DCI found his killer, viewers found a quartet of familiar names and faces.

To start, Sharon Small was celebrity chef Ruth Cameron. While it’s true this Scottish actress has appeared in guest roles of Downtown Abbey, Death in Paradise and Call the Midwife, PBS NC viewers should recognize her as Sergeant Barbara Havers from The Inspector Lynley Mysteries. More recently, Small was Stella in the Masterpiece series Flesh And Blood.

Tyger Drew-Honey portrayed kitchen porter Ferdy Linklater. He’s best known as eldest child Jake on the Britcom Outnumbered.

Lucinda Dryzek, who played ambitious commis-chef Amy Strickland, was seen as Claire Finch on series three of Unforgotten.

Lastly, Hayley Mills was model turned herbalist Lizzy Thornfield. Any Boomer and Gen Xer should immediately recognize the name since Mills appeared in several Disney films as a young actress (Pollyanna, The Parent Trap, That Darn Cat). However, PBS viewers may know her from the classic early 80s Masterpiece Theatre series The Flame Trees of Thika, based on the 1959 book by Elspeth Huxley.

MIDSOMER MURDERS continues Saturday night at 8 on PBS NC.
