What was Norman Clegg’s profession on Last of the Summer Wine?
Anyone who has ever watched the Britcom Last of the Summer Wine knows the series followed the lively misadventures of some elderly residents of West Yorkshire. It was a long-running show and the cast changed throughout the decades as actors moved on and, in some cases, passed on. In fact, Peter Sallis’ Norman Clegg was the only consistent presence throughout the series (the character appeared in every episode). Certainly the widower was retired from his job during LOTSW but he would often discuss his past profession as a salesman. But what did Norman Clegg sell?
Clegg was a lino (linoleum) salesman. He was made redundant from his job after the death of his wife, Edith.
