What’s happening, what’s on and what’s interesting this week …

With the passing of Fidel Castro, it seems a good time to re-familiarize yourself with the little island off the southern tip of Florida. Tune into the Explorer Channel Tuesday night at 8 for Cuba: A Lifetime Of Passion and examine the present-day reality of the Cuban Revolution and its uncertain post-Castro future. Then stay tuned for the two-part Cuba’s Secret Side at 9. That’s all happening Tuesday night on UNC-EX.

It would seem that Bill Nye the Science Guy and Neil deGrasse Tyson spent Turkey Day together. Now that’s a Thanksgiving I’d like to have been invited to – I think my IQ would have gone up a few points just by osmosis!

The Last Waltz is considered one of the foremost concert films. Directed by Martin Scorsese, the documentary chronicles the farewell performance of rock group The Band (replete with guest stars). Tune in Friday night at 9 on UNC-TV for this musical tour de force.

Good news for fans of PBS Kids’ preeminent Panthera: Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood is coming to your neighborhood! Check out the tour dates for Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood Live (note: the production hits Durham and Charlotte in January 2017).

The holiday season is here and you’d be hard press not to see holiday specials of every variety of all our services over the next few weeks. For instance. Saturday night at 7, Irish tenor Eamonn McCrystal hosts an evening of festive music from Belfast’s Grand Opera House. Tune in to the North Carolina Channel for Eamonn McCrystal: The Music Of Christmas.

And if you want to be more like Sherlock, here’s an article on how to use his famous “mind palace” trick.
