Name the two films for which Ken Burns received Academy Award nominations.
Simply put: documentary filmmaker Ken Burns has had a long and celebrated career and his association with PBS runs just as long. Burns has won numerous awards for his work, including Emmys, Grammys and Peabodys. However, two of his films were nominated for Academy Awards. But which two?
“Brooklyn Bridge” and “The Statue Of Liberty” are the two nominees. The films were released in 1981 and 1985, respectively, and have aired on PBS over the years. Since Oscar-nominated films must have been theatrically released, my guess is either the two docs were shown in cinemas first and then on PBS or perhaps were shown on PBS and given a limited run to quality for Academy Awards consideration. Either way, these two films have the distinction of being the only two Ken Burns’ productions to be nominated for filmdom’s highest honor.
