A couple of shows this week featuring appearances by familiar faces. See if you recognized any of them.
Let’s start with Midsomer Murders. Part one of “The Straw Woman” aired Saturday night on UNC-TV in which Barnaby investigates death at a pagan festival. Two actors you’ve possibly seen elsewhere are worth a mention. The first is Daniel Weymen who played Matthew Cole. Weymen also played Sam’s husband Adam Wainwright on Foyle’s War. The second is veteran actor Keith Barron who portrayed Alan Clifford. Barron may be best known to UNC-TV viewers as Alan Banks father, Arthur Banks, on DCI Banks.
Next, we’ll move on to Luther. Last week, I detailed many of the regular faces you’ll see on that series. This week, I’ll call your attention to Sean Pertwee who guest starred as Terry Lynch. The British actor may honestly be best known for an American TV show – he appears as Alfred on the Batman prequel Gotham on FOX. Yet he has popped up on UK series like Marple and Poirot and played Hugh Beringer on Myster’s Cadfael so UNC-TV viewers may have spotted him there. However, if you recognized the surname the moment you heard it, that’s not an accident. Sean Pertwee is the son of actor Jon Pertwee who was, of course, the third Doctor on Doctor Who.
Got a face you can’t place from one of the plethora of programs UNC-TV airs from the UK? Email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and I’ll try to help out.
