Hey, It’s Photo Friday!

For more years than I can remember, UNC-TV has taken part in the PBS Kids Young Writers Contest. It used to be associated with Reading Rainbow so that may give you some idea how long we’ve been doing it since Rainbow ended production almost ten years ago. Young people from kindergarten through third grade can submit original stories they’ve written and illustrated and winners are picked and prizes awarded. The deadline for 2016 was in March so that means it’s time for UNC-TV staff to pour over the entries. This may even be happening as you read this (in full disclosure, I am not part of the contest committee so I cannot say for certain).

Here’s a shot of the assorted bins that house all the entries from across the  Tar Heel State from dozens of ambitious young writers…

Winners will be announced later in the year. Stay tuned to UNC-TV’s Just For Kids and UNC-KD for the winning stories!
